The flow control principle and operation methods of mechanical valves
A mechanical valve is a widely used flow control device in industrial and household equipment. Its main function is to adjust the flow rate of fluids as needed to meet the requirements of different equipment or systems. This article will elaborate on the flow control principle and operation methods of mechanical valves in detail.
1. Flow regulation principle of the mechanical valve
The flow rate regulation of the mechanical valve mainly relies on its internal regulating mechanism, usually including the valve core, seat, spring, and adjustment screw, etc. These components work together to control the flow of fluids and achieve the purpose of regulating the flow rate.
Valve core and seat: The valve core and seat are two key components of the mechanical valve. The valve core moves within the seat to regulate the flow of fluids by changing the degree of opening and closing between the valve core and seat. When the valve core and seat are completely closed, the fluid cannot pass through; when there is a certain gap between the valve core and seat, the fluid can pass through partially; when the valve core and seat are completely open, the fluid can flow freely.
Spring: The spring provides a constant resistance to maintain the closed state of the valve core and seat. The greater the spring pressure, the tighter the valve core and seat are closed, thereby reducing the flow rate of the fluid. The spring pressure is adjusted through the adjustment screw.
Adjustment screw: The adjustment screw is located near the spring and adjusts the gap between the valve core and seat by changing the pre-tension of the spring. When the adjustment screw is turned in, the pre-tension of the spring decreases, the gap between the valve core and seat increases, and the flow rate of the fluid increases; when the adjustment screw is turned out, the pre-tension of the spring increases, the gap between the valve core and seat decreases, and the flow rate of the fluid decreases.
2. Operation method of the mechanical valve
Installation: When installing the mechanical valve, ensure that the installation position of the valve is correct and the connection with the pipeline is tight without leakage. Select the appropriate type of valve as needed, such as stop valves, gate valves, ball valves, etc.
Opening: When opening the valve, rotate the adjustment screw clockwise to increase the pre-tension of the spring, so that the gap between the valve core and seat decreases, thereby increasing the flow rate of the fluid. For stop valves and gate valves, rotate the handwheel clockwise, and the gap between the valve core and seat decreases, increasing the flow rate of the fluid.
Closing: When closing the valve, rotate the adjustment screw counterclockwise to reduce the pre-tension of the spring, so that the gap between the valve core and seat increases, thereby reducing the flow rate of the fluid. For stop valves and gate valves, rotate the handwheel counterclockwise, and the gap between the valve core and seat increases, reducing the flow rate of the fluid.
Maintenance: Regularly check the operating status of the mechanical valve to ensure that the gap between the valve core and seat is appropriate, and the spring pressure is proper. If necessary, clean and lubricate to extend the service life of the valve.
3. Matters needing attention
When operating the mechanical valve, excessive torque should be avoided to prevent damage to the valve and adjustment screw.
When adjusting the flow rate, adjustments should be made gradually to avoid sudden large-scale adjustments, in order to prevent damage caused by fluid impact.
During use, regular inspections of the valve’s sealing should be conducted to ensure there are no leaks.
The flow regulation principle and operation method of the mechanical valve are based on its internal structure and working principle. Proper understanding and mastery of these principles and methods can effectively control the flow rate of fluids and ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
