How to adjust the pressure of water knife system


Water-jet cutting technology is an advanced technology for cutting materials by high-pressure water flow, which is widely used in the processing of metal, stone, glass, composite materials and other fields. Its core lies in pressurizing water to a very high pressure (usually between 2,000 and 6,000 atmospheres) by a high-pressure pump, and then forming a high-speed water jet through a fine nozzle to realize accurate cutting of materials. In this process, the pressure adjustment of the system is very important, which not only affects the cutting effect, but also relates to the stability and service life of the equipment.

First, the basic principle of pressure regulation

The pressure adjustment of water jet system is mainly accomplished by the control system of high-pressure pump. High-pressure pump is the core power source of the whole system, and its main function is to pressurize ordinary tap water to ultra-high pressure. Pressure regulating device usually includes pressure sensor, overflow valve and control system, which work together to ensure the stable operation of the system within the set pressure range.

When the system detects that the pressure exceeds the set value, the overflow valve will automatically open to release the excess pressure and prevent the system from being overloaded; When the pressure is insufficient, the control system will increase the output power of the pump to maintain the required pressure. This closed-loop control system can realize accurate control of pressure.

Second, the method of pressure adjustment

1. Manual adjustment mode

Some early water jet equipment used manual adjustment, and the operator changed the system pressure by adjusting the overflow valve or control valve. Although this method is simple, its accuracy is low, and it needs experienced technicians to operate, so it is easy to cause misadjustment.

2. Automatic adjustment mode

Modern water jet system mostly adopts automatic control, and realizes real-time monitoring and adjustment of pressure through PLC (programmable logic controller) and pressure sensor linkage. The operator only needs to set the target pressure value on the control panel, and the system will automatically adjust the working state of the pump to ensure the stable output pressure.

3. Variable frequency speed regulation

Some high-end water jet equipment also uses frequency converter to control the motor speed, thus adjusting the operating frequency of high-pressure pump. This method can not only achieve finer pressure control, but also effectively save energy and prolong the service life of the equipment.

Third, the importance of pressure regulation

Reasonable pressure regulation is of great significance to the operation of water jet system;
